Road Works Begin In Several Mayaro Communities
The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has begun road rehabilitation works across the Mayaro constituency, with projects now underway in several communities as the Government moves to address long-standing infrastructure problems.
The development follows a weekend site visit to Ecclesville and Charuma, where Mayaro Member of Parliament Nicholas Morris and Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen assessed landslip and road concerns.
MP Morris said communities including Rio Claro, Biche, Navet, Guayaguayare, Tabaquite Road, Kernaham, Cedar Grove and Mayaro, among others, are included in the rehabilitation programme.
He urged residents who have not yet seen work begin in their communities to remain patient, assuring them that crews are expected to arrive in the coming weeks and emphasising that no community will be overlooked.
The MP acknowledged that years of neglect cannot be reversed in a matter of months but said the ongoing works demonstrate that the Government has begun implementing a plan to address infrastructure challenges.
The weekend visit also included a tour of the landslip at Charuma Junction, where rehabilitation work is being advanced through the Rural Development Company in collaboration with the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government.
