SAINT LUCIA IN FINAL TALKS WITH US ON THIRD PARTY MIGRANT TRANSFER
The United States can send no more than ten third-country nationals to Saint Lucia every three months under a proposed deal now in final negotiations.
External Affairs Minister Alva Baptiste told Parliament Tuesday that the government has submitted its financial demands and awaits Washington’s response.
The proposed deal is a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding.
The US must give five days’ notice before any transfer. It must provide flight manifests and personal details.
Saint Lucia then has two days to approve or reject each request. The US will cover all costs.
The Minister read the operating rules directly to Parliament.
