SEWA TT Prepares Relief Supplies For Venezuela
2 hours ago
Relief from Trinidad and Tobago is headed to earthquake-hit Venezuela, as SEWA TT’s volunteers and donors pack thousands of essential supplies, bringing hope and humanitarian support to affected families.
Ambassador of the Republic of Venezuela to Trinidad and Tobago, Álvaro Enrique Sánchez Cordero, is thanking SEWA TT for its continued efforts.
More than two weeks after two devastating earthquakes hit neighbouring Venezuela, relief efforts are continuing in Trinidad and Tobago, as two forty-foot containers will soon be packed and shipped to those affected.
« I was telling Mr. Telucksingh how moved I am to see so many people especially young people, coming here on a weekend to work and put all their efforts and their talents, in this activity that will ultimately be a major help and assistance to the people of Venezuela, to my people, who are at this moment suffering so much, because of the double earthquakes that took place two weeks ago. »
President of SEWA TT, Revan Telucksingh, said overwhelming support has led to the successful relief efforts.
« We would’ve raised at least five hundred thousand dollars both in cash and in kind from sponsors, I think the value of these buckets is way across six hundred thousand now, based on items that we put in it. »
On Saturday, a number of volunteers, some very young, joined the assembly line, carefully packing each bucket with food, medicine and sanitation supplies.
Mr. Telucksingh explained that the buckets’ contents were carefully thought through.
As Venezuela rebuilds, and this country stands beside it, anyone wanting to assist can reach out to the organisation, SEWA TT.
