Strike Squad Veterans Inspire T&T Footballers Ahead Of Jamaica Clash

Members of the 1989 Strike Squad, led by former captain Clayton Morris, paid a visit to the Trinidad and Tobago Senior Men’s Football Team ahead of Thursday’s crucial World Cup Qualifier against Jamaica.
With T&T needing a win to keep their World Cup hopes alive, Morris urged the team to trust the guidance of head coach Dwight Yorke.
« As a coach, it’s very difficult to get it just to go out there and do what you’re asking. But there must be trust. The coach trusts you because he says, Let me do what I need to do. You know how to trust the guidance that he’s given to you to go out there and deliver. So I’m saying it again, two things: pride and trust. And I think it’s good to know that, guys, because that is all that we want for the country that we’re in right now. »
With Trinidad and Tobago’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification also depending on other results in Group B, head coach Dwight Yorke is reminding players to focus solely on their own matches.
« Forget the outside noise. We know what we’re about, what we’re trying to build. The future’s in your hands. All right, it’s not the end of the day. But what we do is have control in the next two games that are ahead of us. Forget the second game. Let’s focus on Jamaica, like we have been. Get those points. And as everyone is fully aware, the country, the entire country is behind us. That support is there. »
