Taxi Cab Union Protests Over Unresolved Issues
83 minutes ago
The Lynden Pindling International Airport was the center of a heated protest this morning as irate Taxi drivers voiced frustrations over unresolved issues between the Bahamas Taxi Cab Union and the Bahamas Livery Drivers Union.
Taxi Union President, Tyrone Butler, said today’s staged protest was a result of the alleged “aggressive nature of livery drivers” and disrespect from Road Traffic Department officers.
In response, Bahamas Livery Drivers Union President, Tory Austin, said their union is open to coming to the table to find a resolution.
Also at the heated scene outside LPIA this afternoon was Transport Minister Leon Lundy, who said he has an “open-door policy” for both unions. Lundy also said that just this week, he sat down with both unions to address ongoing issues.
