Transport Board clears air on TAP payments

The Transport Board is clearing the air regarding the non payment of monies owed to public service vehicle operators within the Transport Augmentation Programme (TAP). Chief Operations Officer at the Board, Lynda Holder, while admitting there was a payment challenge, stressed that the matter is a complicated one regarding payments owed for concessionary ridership or rather for those commuters riding on the bus for free. These include police officers, school children and pensioners. She says the monies for concessionary ridership are paid by other agencies to the Transport Board, which in turn reimburses the TAP operators. Ms. Holder says the introduction of the cashless payment system is one way of resolving this issue.
