A new report indicates that there is a continued lack of trust between civil society organizations and regulators, driven mainly by a lack of clear coordination and communication. This was highlighted through findings shared at this year's edition of the Talk to Your Regulator symposium, which brought together civil society leaders and officials from the National NGO Bureau, the Financial Intelligence Authority, KCCA, Uganda Registration Services Bureau, and the Uganda Revenue Authority. The Executive Director at the Network for Public Interest Litigation, Dr. James Nkuubi, presented the report. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

Kikuube District Council has rejected a proposal to levy local revenue on sugarcane out-growers. The proposal was introduced by members of the District Executive Committee and the technical staff who are looking for means of increasing local revenue. They had proposed a levy of 20,000 shillings on each truck of cane from an out-grower. During the District Council meeting held at the District Headquarters, councilors opposed the tax, arguing that since sugar cane companies pay local service tax, it would be double taxation to levy trucks that transport sugarcane from farmers. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

One of the major challenges of the implementation of the National Development Plan three was that planning was sometimes not aligned to the existing budget. According to the Permanent Secretary to the treasury Ramathan Ggoobi, NDP3 therefore became more ambitious than the available funds could realistically achieve. At the event to unveil the fourth National Development Plan, a shift in approach was promised with plans being done according to the available resources. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

The MP for Lwemiyaga County Theodore Ssekikubo, who is leading a move to censure four backbench commissioners of Parliament has revealed that more than 100 lawmakers have appended their signatures to the censure motion papers. The commissioners are accused of abuse of office and misconduct after allegedly sharing 1.7 billion shillings among themselves as a service award. Ssekikubo is hopeful that the 177 signatures required to move Parliament to table and debate the censure motion will be collected. He has also urged Speaker Anita Among to allow the MPs to run the process without interference, saying that the motion has nothing to do with her. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

The National Unity Platform party held its first peaceful mobilization rally in Mukono Municipality today in sharp contrast to last week's events when the police blocked their activities in Busoga sub-region. It took the entourage close to eight hours to cover the short distance between Kampala and Mukono district which would usually take less than an hour, given the number of people escorting the motorcade. There was however, a brief standoff with the police who blocked the main access road into Mukono Municipality and the NUP group was diverted through another road to Ntawo playground. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

All over the world, ecosystems are threatened. From forests and drylands to farmlands and lakes, natural spaces on which humanity’s existence depends are reaching a tipping point. According to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, up to 40% of the planet’s land is degraded, directly affecting half of the world’s population. The number and duration of droughts have increased by 29% since 2000, and without urgent action, droughts may affect over three-quarters of the world's population by 2050. Perhaps this is why World Environment Day 2024 focuses on land restoration, halting desertification, and building drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future, we are Generation Restoration.” Can we turn back time? We discuss more with Sarah Basemera, Team Lead at Raising Gabdho Foundation (RGF). #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
