Watch the seventh annual Artificial Intelligence for Information Accessibility (AI4IA) Conference, held on 28 September 2026, marking the International Day for Universal Access to Information and celebrating 25 years of UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP).
Bringing together perspectives from the Caribbean, Africa and beyond, the conference examines how to make AI more inclusive, accountable and responsive to the communities it serves.
IN THIS RECORDING
• The Map of Exclusion – How barriers involving connectivity, language, digital literacy and representation shape who benefits from AI.
• The Politics of the Pipeline – Who controls the data behind AI, how communities can influence its development, and what fairness and accountability look like in practice.
• AI4IA Intelligence Pilot -The launch of a platform designed to make the conference’s archive searchable and easier to explore.
The programme also features remarks from UNESCO representatives and a keynote address from Botswana’s Acting Minister for Communications and Innovation.
Convened by UNESCO IFAP’s Working Group on Information Accessibility, with support from the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica and UNESCO’s regional offices for the Caribbean and Southern Africa.
