The office of the prime minister has announced that an official funeral for former senate deputy president Evaristus Jn Marie will take place this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. At the minor basilica of the immaculate conception in Castries.
Prime minister Philip J. Pierre and acting governor general felix Finisterre led state officials in paying tribute during today’s lying-in-repose ceremony at parliament.
Prime Minister Pierre called the observance a deeply personal farewell to a dear friend.
Mr. Jn Marie passed away in July after a long career in parliamentary service and financial sector leadership.
Dignitaries and members of the public will gather Saturday afternoon to honor his legacy.
