The Global Shapers Port-of-Spain are ensuring high school graduates are equipped to take on the world of work through a comprehensive training initiative.

According to Project Lead Zion Benjamin, the two-day workshop was geared towards helping youngsters seamlessly transition into the world of work.

« We really identified a need in the secondary schools to help persons with resume writing, career readiness, and interview skills, and financial literacy, because one of the most important things when you start to make that money, is what you do with it, and how you use it wisely, for your betterment. »

He added that an investment in human capital is an investment in the future of this country.

The recent high school graduates and young leaders of tomorrow shared the skills they obtained.

Minister Swaratsingh said the programme provides an essential opportunity for young people preparing to enter the workforce.

« As they think through challenges, additional skills they need and prepare themselves for different types of new opportunities that will allow them to understand that this transition is something they need to prepare for as they accept new opportunities and careers. »

He commended those responsible for the initiative as he championed its expansion across the country.

« Bridging the gap is a fantastic programme, from classroom to careers, is an excellent topic, and I want to thank all those who give of their time to be part of this. »
