Homeland Security Minister Says Police Handling San Fernando East Corruption Allegations
The allegations of corruption surrounding the People’s National Movement San Fernando East constituency office are being handled by the police.
This is according to Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander while responding to journalists’ questions on the issue following the opening of the Princes Town Fire Station on Wednesday.
« Any place where corruption raises its ugly head should be investigated because it’s public funds. I have some of the documents in my possession that I’ve seen, and I am, I am, I don’t know. It’s shocking. It’s amazing that someone could move from the outhouse to the White House. That’s all I’ll say. »
The Minister maintained that the matter is one for the police to investigate.
« There are ways that we can get things. There are persons who give us information from time to time, whether they are blowing the whistle or not. I think once enough is enough and it attracts the attention of the police, whether by report or otherwise, then the police could afford to investigate. We don’t get involved in that. And we are not going to demand the police investigate anything. The police have their job to do, and we support them. »
