Housing, Local Government, and Urban Renewal Minister Richard Frederick has been placed on administrative leave until further notice.

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre announced the decision today, explaining that the move aims to maintain transparency amid ongoing public questions surrounding the Saint Lucia Social Development Fund.

The decision comes roughly ten days after Police Commissioner Verne Garde disclosed that law enforcement found no sustained evidence against the Minister following a probe into a prior complaint.

However, Prime Minister Pierre stresses that placing the Minister on leave does not imply any wrongdoing.
