The Ministry of Health & Wellness held a press conference on Thursday to address concerns surrounding reported tuberculosis cases in Eleuthera.
Minister of Health & Wellness Dr. Michael Darville said information circulating on social media about suspected tuberculosis cases is inaccurate and has caused unnecessary anxiety among residents.
Meanwhile, Director of the National Infectious Diseases Programme, Nikkiah Forbes, explained that individuals have tested positive for tuberculosis infection through the Mantoux test.
However, she noted that while some cases may be considered presumptive tuberculosis based on specialist assessments, this does not mean the disease is active.
