Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the Government will not weaken the Firearms Act.
The comments come on the heels of several civil society groups describing the mandatory minimum sentence for gun offences as unfair.
Dr. Holness, however, says watering down the legislation at this time would send the wrong signal to criminals.
