SHARED PARTNERSHIPS [18TH JUNE 2026] – While athletes often earn recognition for their accomplishments on the field of play, the coaches, mentors, and trainers who help shape their success frequently remain out of the spotlight. On June 18, the Government of Saint Lucia paid tribute to one such figure, officially opening the Cuthbert Modeste Strength and Conditioning Centre at the Players’ Pavilion, Mindoo Philip Park. Named in honor of veteran sports mentor Cuthbert « Twa Tinay » Modeste, the facility recognizes his decades of service to youth and sports development, including his contribution to the growth of athletes such as Olympic champion Julien Alfred. The occasion also saw the Republic of China (Taiwan) reaffirm its commitment to supporting initiatives that advance youth and sports development in Saint Lucia. Kishan Smith reports
