Tianna Guy Turns Focus To Pan American Championships And Olympic Goal

For Trinidad and Tobago National boxer Tianna Guy the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games didn’t go according plan, losing her quarter-final bout to Mexico’s Paula Hernandez.
TTT Sport sat down with Guy who is already looking ahead to her dream of qualifying for the Olympic Games, which starts at the Pan American Championships in October.
Earlier this month of Trinidad and Tobago’s most recognizable faces in the sport of boxing Tianna Guy suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the Central American and Caribbean Games.
After years of preparation Guy put on a strong showing in her Women’s 60 kilogram division quarter-final bout against Mexico’s Paula Hernandez fell just short, losing 4-1 by spilt decision.
The Arouca resident stated that despite the frustrating the result, there were many improvements to her fighting style that were made during the match.
Guy then added that she’s refocused, on her next challenge.
The Pan American boxing championships or « the continental » is set to take place from October 17th, and will serve as the first stage of Olympic qualifiers, where Guy will need to finish in the top four to advance to second round of qualifying which is the Pan American Games in 2027.
