The Personnel Department, which oversees employment matters for approximately 90,000 public officers and employees, has been allocated $46.8 million for the 2026-27 fiscal year, with the Government signalling plans to strengthen human resource management and improve public sector efficiency.
Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence Dominic Smith said the allocation is critical to ensuring the Department can effectively serve the public service across the country.
« A stronger Personnel Department should contribute to a more responsive public service, better workforce planning, improved employee relations, and ultimately, Mr Chairman, better service of Trinidad and Tobago. »
