In tonight's top story: The scope of the damage from the Jasper, Alta., wildfire is much clearer now, as Parks Canada says 358 structures in the town have been destroyed — about 30 per cent of the townsite. As Eric Sorensen reports, Canada Soccer's CEO is calling out a "systemic ethical shortcoming" in the organization. The Crown dishonourably breached the Robinson Treaties and must negotiate a settlement with First Nations within six months, the Supreme Court of Canada has ruled. In a ruling Friday, the Supreme Court said the Ontario and Canadian governments had a mandatory obligation to raise that amount when economic circumstances warranted. David Akin has more. The Lower Mainland Radio Control Crawlers are paying tribute to the Nahatlatch Fire Tower that was destroyed by wildfire in 2023. They've built a to-scale, miniature version of the tower as a feature part of their remote-control rock den course. The course features creeks, boulders, and even a re-creation of an old B.C. mine complex complete with an outhouse. The group prides itself on taking notable B.C. buildings and recreating them in scale fashion. A doctor at Vancouver General Hospital is the first in Canada to use an endoscopic overstitch as a successful suturing technique. Eighty-one-year-old Tom Collins was suffering from esophageal cancer, not able to swallow or eat properly, and lost 75 pounds. A special endoscope allows doctors to suture internally, including in the stomach, esophagus, and colon — with no incisions and a quicker recovery. La nouvelle nappe d’huile détectée jeudi (25 juillet) sur le fleuve Saint-Laurent, dans le secteur de Pointe-aux-Trembles, est de l’huile à moteur «ayant le même profil que celle déversée voilà quelques semaines», a indiqué vendredi (26 juillet) le ministère de l'Environnement après analyse de l’échantillon prélevé la veille à la marina. Les recherches se poursuivent en collaboration avec la Ville de Montréal pour trouver l’origine du déversement d’huile dans le réseau d’égouts municipal. Jeudi, les autorités indiquaient que des traces d’hydrocarbures avaient été trouvées dans une conduite longeant le boulevard du Tricentenaire et ayant comme émissaire la marina. Trois jours seulement avant l’incident, dans le même secteur, les équipes de la Garde côtière canadienne (GCC) terminaient des opérations de nettoyage à la suite d'un premier incident similaire survenu jeudi le 11 juillet, ce qui inquiète les résidents du secteur.
