Infrastructure, Ports Services, and Energy Minister Shawn Edward strongly endorsed a new maritime investment during a recent House debate, calling port development vital for economic expansion.
Following his backing, the House of Assembly approved a government guarantee for a Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) loan. This new capital will immediately fund the preparatory phases of a major port upgrade initiative.
