Police in Tobago are searching for five armed men who stormed a Calder Hall home early Wednesday morning, pistol-whipping a local businessman before escaping with thousands of dollars in cash and valuables.
Fifty-year-old Anthony Woods was asleep inside his Bagatelle Number One home when the intruders broke into his bedroom. Investigating officers say one masked attacker held a rifle to Woods while another pointed a handgun at his son. Two other suspects were carrying cutlasses. The assailants hit Woods on his head and body before stealing thirty-four hundred Trinidad and Tobago dollars, fourteen thousand U-S dollars, bank cards, and personal ID. Woods suffered head injuries and has since sought medical treatment, but authorities confirm he was not hospitalized. Investigators are reviewing footage from nearby security cameras and recovered a knife left at the scene by one fleeing suspect.
Speaking directly to Tobago Updates, Senior Superintendent Rohdill Kirk confirmed that no suspects have been detained or questioned so far. Kirk is urging residents to stay vigilant, practice the “see something, say something” approach, and form neighborhood watch groups with full police support. This marks the second major home invasion on the island this month, following a two-hundred-thousand-dollar robbery in Roxborough.
Anyone with information on Wednesday’s attack is asked to contact the police immediately.
Again, police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in Calder Hall on Wednesday morning to call 999, 555, or the nearest police station.
