Venice has launched its pilot plan to charge day-trippers five euros (£4.29) to enter the city, in an attempt to reduce the number of tourists visiting. Those only spending the day in the city will need to pay if they are arriving between 8.30am and 4pm. Outside of those hours people will be free to come and go as they please. Those tourists also staying within the city are exempt from the charge. ITV News has learned that over two thirds of Brits will avoid swimming or entering our rivers and the sea because of pollution fears. Last year, water companies in England dumped sewage in our waterways for a total of 3.6 million hours. That figure was up 54% from the number of sewage spills in 2022. The Renters (Reform) Bill, which is set for its final stages in the House of Commons on Wednesday, includes a long-promised plan to end tenants being forced from their homes under Section 21 notices. But the government has indicated it will delay implementation of the ban until the courts are assessed to have the capacity to deal with new cases, prompting accusations that ministers have abandoned renters and conceded to “pro-landlord Conservative MPs”. A British surgeon who has just returned from Gaza has spoken to ITV News about the horrors he saw, the injured children he tried to save and moments 'he cannot take out his head’. Dr Junaid Sultan worked at the last fully functioning hospital in the region, which is overwhelmed as the numbers of those injured in the conflict continues to rise daily, now reportedly exceeding 77,000 - of which the majority are women and children. Belgian man whose body produces alcohol in rare condition cleared of drunk driving #itvnews

The chief fire officer (CFO) and assistant chief fire officer (ACFO) of Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service both sent messages suggesting they wanted to kill or harm female colleagues. In the WhatsApp messages - which have been leaked to ITV News - the senior officers also use the words "lazy cow", "bint" and "useless" to refer to women in the service. Several of the messages target Area Manager Jan Morris, who resigned from the service this year after reading what had been said about her.
