Best Dressed Chicken Renewed Energy Launch || August 5, 2025
On August 5, 2025, Jamaica Broilers Group (JBG) will officially commission its new LNG-powered cogeneration plant at The Best Dressed Chicken facility, marking a major step forward in sustainable energy investment and agricultural innovation in Jamaica.
The commissioning ceremony will be attended by Dr. The Most Honourable Prime Minister of Jamaica, who will offer the keynote address and officially open the facility.
Also in attendance: government ministers, senior representatives from Scotiabank,
Jamaica Public Service Company, Excelerate Energy and other valued partners who
played key roles in bringing the project to life.
With an investment of US$8 million, this plant is one of the largest of its kind in Jamaica. Powered by a 6.5 MW Hyundai engine, the facility will significantly improve fuel efficiency, reduce particulate matter and sulfur dioxide emissions by over 70%, and enhance operational sustainability through the use of a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG)—which captures exhaust heat to generate steam for poultry production.
The project supports Jamaica’s National Energy Policy and aligns with the Government’s goal to diversify away from heavy fuel oil by 2030, while contributing to international commitments under the Paris Agreement.
