The Deon Lendore Track Classic hosted by the Abilene Wildcats Athletic Club ran off at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Saturday and we have highlights of some key sprint events.

Juvenile, junior and Senior track athletes from the nation’s top athletic Clubs and schools graced the track at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain for the 2026 edition of the Deon Lendore Classic

Lendore before his tragic passing made his first big impression when he anchored T&T’s men’s 4 by 400 metre relay team to bronze at the 2012 London Olympic Games. He did so at the age 19 and became one this country’s youngest Olympic medallist.

The girls U20 final ran off in two sections with the athletes in section 2 taking the top honors…the winner in 12.47 seconds was Adelia Blades of the host Club Abilene Wildcats…she was followed by Mikayla Granderson of Alpha Athletic and Kewes Gomes of IG Fastlane both clocking at 12.54

The boys U20 final featured four exciting sections but it was the section 4 trio coming in with the fastest times…Alex Seepersad of Phoenix was first in 10.37…second was Zenith’s Jquan Douglas with 10.74 and in third Kristiano Perez representing QRC in a time of 10.77

Six racers took their marks for the Women 100 Meter Dash Open and it was sprint ace Michelle Lee Ahye representing Memphis Pioneers easing to a first place finish in 11.62…Kadija Pickering of Abilene Wildcats was second in 11.62…followed by IG Fastlane’s Akala Melville with a time of 12.27
