A new initiative at the Lady Hochoy Home South is creating greater independence and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Project H.E.N. is using the Home’s 11 acres of land to combine poultry farming, agricultural education and vocational training, giving participants practical skills that can support future employment and self-sufficiency.

The poultry project currently houses about 200 chickens and is expected to strengthen food security at the Home while generating income through the sale of eggs and chicken.

The initiative has also received support from RBC Royal Bank Trinidad and Tobago, which donated funds for a poultry plucking machine.
