The University of Fort Hare's GBV Prevention Unit has questioned the effectiveness of the National Council on GBV and Femicide Bill. President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the measure on Friday. The University of Cape Town has announced that Professor Mosa Moshabela will be the university’s new vice-chancellor. He’s currently the deputy vice-chancellor for research and innovation at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Moshabela takes over from Professor Dayanand Reddy who has been acting as vice-Chancellor since the departure of Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng in March last year. An independent panel released a report in November condemning her leadership saying that to conclude that the behaviour of her and the UCT Council Chair amounted to a governance failure would be an understatement.
