Stocks ticked higher Thursday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrial Average above 40,000 for the first time, as a banner year on Wall Street continued. The Dow hit an intraday high of 40,000.54 and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also hit record highs.
