Gareth Bale warns greed could harm footballers' welfare and backs scrapping VAR

Gareth Bale says greed leading to an increase in the number of fixtures could harm players' welfare -- and is calling for VAR to be scrapped. In a wide-ranging interview with Sky's Rob Harris, the former Real Madrid player said the demands of playing a high volume of games could be "dangerous" for players' mental and physical welfare. He added there was a "balance" to be reached, without things getting "too greedy". Bale also said he "never liked VAR" and "would like to see it gone", adding technology has brought more "controversy" to the game.
