Minorities voice suppression concerns amid India election

22/05/24

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking a third term in the six-week election that began on 19 April. Since his Hindu Nationalist Party – the BJP swept elections in 2014 – it’s implemented policies that have left minorities unsettled. And as the polls enter the final stages – the anti-minority rhetoric has become louder. Voters hope the next government will focus on development and job creation. The Indian government has not granted visas to Al Jazeera’s journalists, so we are covering the election from outside the country. Al Jazeera’s Felix Nyawara reports.
