REVISED SPEED LIMIT REGULATIONS 2024: GOV’T PROPOSES A 30 KM /HR IN ALL URBAN AREAS

In a bid to curb the alarming rise in road accidents, The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Transport Waiswa Baligeya has revealed that Government is proposing a 30 km/hr. speed limit in all urban areas. These proposed changes were revealed during the validation workshop for the Draft Traffic and Road Safety Regulations 2024 held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala. Under these proposed speed regulations, urban areas would see a reduction in the speed limit to 30 km/per hour strictly, while all built-up areas for example along High ways would have a maximum speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour.
