South Coast Sewage Treatment Plant upgrades in the works

Work on a multimillion dollar upgrade to the South Coast Sewage Treatment Plant could begin by year-end. The disclosure from Project Manager with the Barbados Water Authority, Shelly Parris. She was speaking during a town hall meeting to update residents on the plans to upgrade the facility from a primary treatment plan to a tertiary. Ms. Parris says the project aims to increase the availability of potable water through the re-use of reclaimed waste water for agricultural purposes and to recharge aquifers.
