Plans to increase the number of buses that can accommodate people with disabilities have been welcomed by members of that community. President of the Barbados National Organisation of the Disabled, Perro Holloway, highlighted it as one of the highpoints of the 2024 Budget. The National Disabilities Unit is expected to purchase two buses annually, for the next three years. Mr. Holloway was a guest on CBC TV8's Mornin' Barbados. Another aspect of the Budget he welcomes is the expansion of the categories of people with disabilities that can access Non-Contributory Old Age Pensions from October, although he acknowledges some others feel like they've been left out. Mr. Holloway has also taken issue with a practice by some business places as they seek to prevent unauthorised people from parking in spaces designated for people with disabilities.
