Against a backdrop of secular transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as the focal point of global technological innovation and a pivotal component in the development of new quality productive forces. While AI holds the potential to address numerous global challenges, it also carries the risk of exacerbating national disparities and widening the gap in social development. The Global South is at a crossroads, presented with both the opportunity to pursue the advancements of the "Industry 4.0" era and the challenge of confronting the dual burdens of the digital divide and the intelligence gap. How can the Global South bring the progress of AI technological innovation to bear and leverage it as a strategic asset, thereby gaining new international competitive advantages? As a member of the Global South, how can China spearhead digital economy innovation among fellow Global South nations? Furthermore, how can we steer clear of the "zero-sum game" and instead forge a new paradigm for global governance and AI development? On April 28, from 21:30 to 22:00 BJT, CGTN's Wang Guan sits down with Muhammad Sadiq, central program manager at the National Center of Artificial Intelligence; Thorsten Jelinek, Europe director and senior fellow of Taihe Institute; Arthur Goldstuck, founder and CEO of World Wide Worx; and Brian Tse in Shanghai, founder and CEO at Concordia AI and policy affiliate at the Center for the Governance of AI, Future of Humanity Institute of Oxford University, to explore the new dynamics, opportunities and challenges that AI brings to the Global South.
