Prison Service Confirms Death Of Inmate At Maximum Security Prison

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service has confirmed the death of an inmate housed at the Maximum Security Prison.

According to an interim report, prison officers discovered the inmate to be unresponsive during routine rounds on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Alfredo Jose Britto Cedeno, a prohibited immigrant who was on remand for the offence of marijuana trafficking.

Emergency protocols were immediately activated, and medical personnel responded. First aid was administered before the inmate was transported to the Arima Health Facility, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service says the Venezuelan Embassy has been notified through an assigned welfare officer.

A full investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s death
