With revellers gearing up to hit the streets on Carnival Monday and Tuesday, the Member of Parliament for St Augustine, Khadijah Ameen, is reminding her constituents of the importance of maintaining fitness and wellness in and out of season.
The MP, who hosted a Carnival burnout at Constantine Park in Macoya on Wednesday, reiterated the importance of the occasion.
« Your health and wellbeing are of utmost importance. In times like this when we have stress, chaos, we have all kinds of things going on around us we sometimes forget our health, so it’s not about whether you could win the workout; it is about you keeping yourself healthy, keeping yourself in a good frame of mind so that we could be better people. »
Based on the positive turnout of this year’s event, Minister Ameen says she is upping the ante by extending invitations to members of her constituency and beyond for the next Carnival burnout.
« We will be doing this again, based on your overwhelming response, so look out for the next burnout right here in St Augustine. »
The St Augustine MP reminded everyone that taking care of their health is also an important part of the Carnival season.
