Minister Morris Says SOE Aimed At Protection, Not Suppression
6 hours ago
Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Nicholas Morris is insisting that no media house was left out when Attorney General John Jeremie made his statement on the State of Emergency on Monday.
This comes following questions as to why no other media houses were invited except TTT Limited.
Minister Morris addressed the issue at Thursday’s Post Cabinet Media Conference.
« It was not a Press Conference. It was a statement by the Attorney General. If it was a Press Conference, in keeping with our very warm and loving relationship with the media all would have been invited but it was a statement that the AG had to give and he utilised the arms of the State but it was not a press conference so therefore no arms of the media would have been blocked out. »
Meanwhile, Minister Morris is assuring that the SOE is not intended to suppress anyone but to protect the citizens of this country.
« To ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens and the only people who have reason to be fearful or concerned, it is those who break the law and those who are seeking to ensure that they continue to reign terror on innocent citizens in communities. The AG will speak to this, as he has spoken on Monday, but I give the general assurance that none of these regulations is geared towards any of the innocent law-abiding citizens of this country. It’s actually to protect them as we undertake this process. »
