REGIONAL LEADER WEIGHS IN ON U.K. VISA RESTRICTIONS
A sub-regional Prime Minister whose country operates a Citizenship by Investment Program has been explaining why his nation avoided the visa restrictions recently imposed by the United Kingdom on travelers from Saint Lucia.
The comments come as Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre continues to defend the integrity of the island’s Citizenship by Investment Program amid an increase in applications and a rise in the number of Saint Lucians seeking asylum in the U.K.
The administration of Keir Starmer has acknowledged that Saint Lucia has implemented measures to safeguard the program against certain security risks, but maintains that further work is needed. British authorities have also pointed to dozens of asylum claims by Saint Lucian nationals as a key concern behind the visa policy change.
