TOURISM SECTOR DEFENDS WATER IMPORT DECISION
A senior tourism official has reiterated the rationale behind the sector’s unprecedented decision to import water into Saint Lucia.
The move comes as the island faces shortages during the dry season and ongoing infrastructure challenges affecting service from the Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO).
As a result, the hospitality sector has opted to source water from a neighboring Caribbean island at its own expense in an effort to minimize disruptions to hotels and other tourism stakeholders.
