In February 2026, commuters in Tobago received a welcomed addition to the island’s capital—a new transit hub in Scarborough. The facility, constructed by private company Touch Tobago Live under the Tobago House of Assembly’s Adopt-a-Bus-Shed Initiative, is already being actively utilised by members of the public.

Here’s more in this week’s I Love Tobago segment.

Shaded from the sun, and with some commuters taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi to browse the internet, passengers waited patiently for their scheduled buses at the corner of Gardenside Street in Scarborough. Those we spoke to expressed gratitude for the new facility — the island’s first-ever transit hub.

Parlatuvier resident Jeremy Stewart said that after spending some time out of the country, returning home to see the new hub felt like receiving a gift.

The bus schedule displayed on the digital screens also received praise from commuters.

Tourists have also been making use of the transit hub. We caught up with Ema and Edward from Sweden, who were waiting for a bus heading to eastern Tobago.

While speaking with them, we also asked how they were enjoying their stay in Tobago.

Among the suggestions from frequent users to further improve the space were tinting the glass panels to reduce sunlight, adding restroom facilities and a vending machine, and managing the seating area to ensure the elderly and persons with disabilities can access seats during peak periods.
