Hundreds of housing units are set to be delivered to Tobagonians within the next 18 months.
That’s the commitment made by Tobago House of Assembly Secretary of Housing Ricky Joefield during Thursday’s Post-Executive Council Media Briefing as he confirmed that construction is now underway on two major development projects in Tobago—Riseland and Adventure.
Speaking during Thursday’s Post-Executive Council Media Briefing, he revealed that work began at both sites in January and is currently in the mobilisation phase.
« The Riseland Housing development will deliver 130 units comprising 100 townhouses and 30 duplexes on approximately 3.4 hectares of land, as I said, situated in the area of Carnbee. Adventure Phase Three development will deliver 120 housing units inclusive of apartments, duplexes and single-family homes, providing a diverse housing mix to support the varying household needs. »
Mr. Joefield noted that the Division is aiming for an 18-month delivery.
Riseland Housing development is being delivered under a design-build-finance model, while Adventure is structured under a delivery-focused EPC turnkey framework.
« Which will stem between now and probably by next July. We are hoping to deliver in each development at the end of the year at least 50 units, or if we may, push 50% of the development by Christmas this year. It is a hope, but the construct the contractor indicated the contractors indicated that they will try to deliver 50 each in each development by December of this year. »
Affordability is also being promised by the THA.
« So the pricing expectations will range between TT$850,000 to TT$1.3 million, subject to final unit specifications and approved location policies. »
Secretary Joefield also disclosed that the Riseland Development is estimated to cost over TT$141 million and is being constructed by the California Stucco Company Limited, while the Adventure project, valued at over TT$139 million, is being undertaken by CSL Limited.
