The National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago is expressing concern over recent incidents of inappropriate interactions with heritage assets, including persons climbing onto monuments.
Via a media release, the Trust reminded the public that many heritage sites, objects, monuments, buildings and cultural landscapes, are often fragile due to age, and improper handling can cause irreversible damage.
It said these monuments are deeply symbolic of T&T’s history, and visitors are urged to treat them with care and respect.
The release noted that over 400 assets are currently under the care of the Trust, and encouraged the public to experience heritage sites in a safe and respectful way, while remaining vigilant guardians of the reminders of the nation’s history.
