April is being observed in Saint Lucia as Stress Awareness Month under the theme “Be the Change,” with the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition calling on individuals, workplaces, and schools to take proactive steps to recognize and manage stress. The initiative highlights the serious impact chronic stress can have on both physical and mental health, including increased risk of high blood pressure, weakened immunity, burnout, and reduced productivity and will see community mental health workers and health educators conducting outreach sessions across the island. The campaign also coincides with Autism Awareness Month, reinforcing the importance of inclusion and recognizing the unique stressors faced by individuals with autism and their families, while promoting practical strategies to help the public take action to protect their overall well-being.
