Family And Nation Pay Tribute To Angelica Saydee Jogie

Seven year old Angelica Saydee Jogie was laid to rest on Saturday as relatives, friends, classmates and well-wishers gathered to pay their final respects. Angelica who was struck by a jet ski while vacation at Pigeon Point in Tobago was remembered as a happy and truthful child.

Reflecting on her daughter’s life, Salisha Jogie described her daughter, Angelica Saydee Jogie, as a happy and truthful child. While honouring the time they spent together, Mrs. Jogie asked the public for their continued prayers as she navigates the difficult journey of grief.

« I had an amazing time, the time that Sadie spent with me, I will miss her so so much and I know I have a very very long path ahead of me but I thank God for sending her in our lives because we had an incredible time together and I can’t thank each and everyone of you for showing us the support and y’all continue praying for us because it has helped us tremendously. »

Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Secretary of Tourism, Zorisha Hackett, is calling on the public to offer their continued support to the family and to keep Angelica’s memory alive.

« We hope that Trinidad and Tobago truly understands the message to be had from such a short life. And as we look forward to celebrating her eighth birthday next week, we do so remembering that the family needs us now more than ever. After we’ve done what we’ve done here today, let us remember the fact that we came out as a country that we came out for Angelina and we should keep her memory alive by valuing life. »

Acknowledging the impact of the tragedy on the Naparima community, Member of Parliament Dr.Narindra Roopnarine noted that while such moments reveal the strength and compassion of a community, the underlying pain must still be recognized.

« The unbearable reality of a parent having to outlive a child, the silence left behind where laughter once was. Mr and Mrs Jogie as a nation we stand with you. Not just today but in the difficult days,weeks months ahead. »

Angelica Saydee Jogie passed away on April 8 after being struck by jet ski while on vacation with her family at Pigeon Point Beach.
