Main Ridge Rainforest Marks 250 Years As Western Hemisphere’s Oldest Reserve

250 years ago, the Main Ridge Rainforest in Tobago was declared a protective forest reserve. It became the oldest forest reserve in the Western Hemisphere, long before humans realised that it is one of the best defences against climate change.
To celebrate, the Tobago House of Assembly kicked off a week of activities with an opening ceremony at the Main Ridge Orientation Centre.
