A senior official has confirmed that eight people are in custody in connection with last week’s billion-dollar cocaine bust at the Kingston Container Terminal (KCT).

Several KCT employees were taken into custody on Friday after operatives from the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) and the Jamaica Customs Agency, backed by the Specialized Operations Branch, carried out an operation at the facility.

The employees are suspected of operating a smuggling syndicate at the terminal.

Investigators remain tight-lipped as they pursue leads following the seizure.

The cocaine seized during the operation has an estimated street value of more than $1 billion.

Airdate: August 9, 2026.
