Cabinet Reaffirms Open Door Policy With Media

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her Ministers remain accessible to members of the media.
The assurance came from Parliamentary Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Nicholas Morris, at Thursday’s Post-Cabinet Media Briefing.
« The Prime Minister is not running from the Venezuelan issue. She has been very, very outspoken on the issue, and it has been printed in all your media houses. Many of the stories in the newspapers and in the media earlier this week have been as a result of your media colleagues reaching out to the Prime Minister, so this is one Prime Minister that has always accepted engagement, and she will be engaged tomorrow. Again, Parliament returns tomorrow, the government has a very robust legislative agenda. »
Mr. Morris further encouraged the media to continue asking questions on matters of national importance.
« I’ve looked at the front pages of the daily papers today, and I can say that Minister Ameen was very engaging on the issue of URP and so on. I saw the Minister of Finance speaking about devaluation this week, I saw the Prime Minister speaking about the issue of Venezuela and where I’m going with that. When these issues arise, you doing your due diligence have reached out to these colleagues, and these members have responded to you. »
