TTMS MONITORING ACTIVE TROPICAL WAVE
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is closely monitoring an active tropical wave located about 2,300 kilometres east of the Lesser Antilles. As of 2:00 p.m. today, the system has become better organised and has a 70–80% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next two to seven days.
It is moving west-northwest at roughly 40 to 45 km/h and is expected to pass near or north of the northern Leeward Islands later this week. While the system poses no direct threat to Trinidad and Tobago, it is expected to bring periods of moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms by mid-to-late week.
The TTMS will issue another update at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow or earlier if conditions change.
