THA To Get $3.72 Billion For Fiscal 2026

Tobago has received 6.3% of the 2025/2026 National Budget.
In June, the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) requested 5.9%, or $3.71 billion, of the national fiscal package for 2025/2026.
In his maiden Budget presentation, Finance Minister, Davendranath Tancoo, noted that he examined the plans outlined by the THA and the minimum share proposed by the Dispute Resolution Commission.
« The minimum share of the national budget that should be allocated to Tobago as prescribed by the Dispute Resolutions Commission is 4.03%. I recognised that this will be insufficient to achieve the objectives I have just described. I have taken note of the budget proposed by the Tobago House of Assembly and their national agenda. »
As such, Minister Tancoo said Tobago will receive 6.3% of the national pie.
« In this fiscal year I have been directed by my Prime Minister to allocate $2.96 billion to the Tobago House of Assembly which represents a full 5% of the national budget. However, that is not all. In addition, a further $763 million will be spent by various Ministries on Tobago. In total then, the allocation to Tobago for the fiscal year 2026 will be $3.72 billion which equates to 6.3% of the national budget. »
Among the plans for Tobago, as outlined by Minister Tancoo, is the official opening of the ANR Robinson International Airport’s new terminal in the second quarter of 2026.
