SAINT LUCIA INTEGRATES KWEYÒL LANGUAGE INTO SCHOOL CURRICULUM
octobre 27, 2025 11:45 pm
A renewed cultural push is bringing Saint Lucia’s Kweyòl language from the streets to the classroom. Education Minister Shawn Edward has tasked curriculum officers with formally integrating the Creole language into the national school syllabus — a move aimed at preserving and celebrating one of the island’s most defining cultural expressions.
The language, proudly celebrated during Creole Heritage Month in October, continues to unite Saint Lucians and strengthen their sense of identity. Once stigmatized before independence, Kweyòl is now recognized as a vital symbol of national pride and cultural heritage.
