Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service saved a man who was suffering a heart attack on Thursday.

Via a Facebook post, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said officers on patrol responded to a medical emergency that unfolded along Broadway, Port of Spain.

Upon approaching, they observed a man slumped over the steering wheel and unresponsive.

Drawing on skills he had recently gained during an Emergency First Aid Responder course, an officer quickly retrieved the issued medic kit, assessed the patient, and detected a weak pulse. With assistance from other officers, the man was removed from the vehicle, and CPR was administered on the roadway.

Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro commended officers for their swift and selfless actions, deeming them exemplars of what it means to serve with honour and empathy.
