RED MEETS THE INCUMBENT POLITICAL MATURITY TAKES CENTER STAGE IN CALDER HALL
4 hours ago
It was a scene of high energy and unexpected camaraderie on Thursday afternoon as the heat of the political season met the cool maturity of Tobago’s leadership in the Calder Hall community.
The People’s National Movement (PNM) continued the last installment of its « Community Caravan » walkabout in the Scarborough/Mt. Grace electoral district. While canvassing the area, the PNM delegation—led by Minority Leader Kelvon Morris and Prospective Candidate for the area, Petal Daniel-Benoit—crossed paths with the sitting Area Representative and Tobago People’s Party (TPP) official, Trevor James.
Instead of political friction, the streets of Calder Hall witnessed a refreshing display of unity. Morris and Daniel-Benoit were seen sharing warm embraces and lighthearted conversation with James, signaling that despite the political divide, community respect remains paramount.
The atmosphere was electric but « friendly, » as described by onlookers. Audio from the walkabout captured the spirited discourse of the PNM supporters, who engaged in banter with the opposing side. Chants of « Red is the colour! » and « When you cut it, is only red blood! » rang out through the music and street sounds, as supporters passionately declared, « We don’t know blue! » reaffirming their loyalty to the PNM machinery.
Despite the loud declarations of party allegiance from the ground troops, the leadership’s interaction stood out as a moment of civility, with both sides acknowledging each other’s presence in the battle for the Scarborough/Mt. Grace seat.
